Neil Taylor won the 2019 Innovations in Nuclear Technology R&D Award
Neil Taylor, a Ph.D. candidate in the NARS group in Nuclear Engineering Program at OSU, has won a 2019 Innovations in Nuclear Technology R&D Award. He was awarded Second Place in the Open Competition category "Material Protection, Control and Accountancy". His paper titled “Isotopic Concentration of Uranium from Alpha Spectrum of Electrodeposited Source on 4H-SiC Detector at 500°C” was published in the Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry in May 2019. This work was the culmination of a three year long project on fabrication of SiC alpha radiation detectors that were capable of surviving the harsh molten salt environment of pyroprocessing.
